The Missing Tiger and the Spring Collection by Elena Garcia de la Fuente

London-based Spanish artist Elena Garcia de la Fuente has just launched her latest artwork, ‘The Missing Tiger’ (as featured above) an acrylic painting completed for a new series called Beyond Reality. It will be shown for the first time at the 6th edition of The Other Art Fair, 24-27 April 2014, Ambika P3, Marylebone, London.

The artist said "I photographed this scene at Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park. There was something about the scene that reminded me of Rousseau’s painting, ‘Surprised!’ (1891). I felt the tiger could come out anytime. The light and colours caught my eye and the fact that the two girls were photographing the same thing as me, being oblivious that I was behind them. I could have been a predator, or maybe the person who would warn them about the danger.

"I like imagining stories of what I witness with my camera. It all goes back to my long rides on the bus to school when I was a child. I used to pass the time looking outside the window and making up stories about the people I saw. I invite the viewer to also look beyond what they see and engage with the painting making their own associations."

Please also enjoy works from her Spring Collection. You can discover more over at Elenagf.com.
