Cheil appoints Kim de Ruiter to head up mobile

Cheil UK is continuing to sharpen its integrated credentials with the appointment of Kim de Ruiter as its first head of mobile.

De Ruiter, who joins from Noise Inc where she was founder and partner, will report to Daniele Fiandaca, head of innovation at Cheil UK. Her remit is to formulate Cheil UK’s mobile strategy to include mobile marketing, campaign development and innovation.

Prior to Noise Inc, De Ruiter was head of mobile and business development at Mercury Records for two years. Her CV also includes stints at Universal Music Mobile and Universal Music.

Fiandaca said: “With more than 50% smartphone penetration in the UK, mobile is - or should be - at the heart of business in almost every sector. Mobile has a seat at the table in every link of the value chain from discovery, social, advertising, transacting and consuming (in terms of digital content). Cheil understands the importance of this and how it fits with our broader company strategy to be unavoidably integrated.

“Kim is a born ideas generator and naturally strategic thinker. She’s a welcome addition to Cheil as we continue bolster our integrated offer to clients.”

De Ruiter added: "Mobile is an extremely exciting and fast-paced industry, with technology revolutionising the possibilities for creative and commerce alike. I’m looking forward to working with an incredibly talented Cheil team to incorporate mobile into relevant client solutions.”

De Ruiter’s appointment follows the additions of Jules Ridley as new business director and Richard Hale as Cheil UK’s first digital creative director.
