Guardian launches UK Cannes Young Lions competition for 2013

Guardian News & Media has today announced the launch of the Cannes Young Lions competition for 2013.

The national competition is open to all up-and-coming creative and media professionals, with the winning entries representing the UK at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June.

To take part in the competition, entrants must currently be UK residents or have a valid UK work permit, be participating in the industry and be 28 years of age or younger. The challenge for entrants is to respond to a brief from a charity in 24 hours for print, cyber and media entries and 48 hours for film. The UK sends four teams of two to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, one each for media, cyber, print and, new for 2013, film.

Applicants must first register their interest at guardian.co.uk/canneslions by midnight on Sunday 10 March 2013 in order to receive the competition brief. The competition brief will be made available for download online to all registered entrants at 4pm Friday 15 March 2013. Entries must be submitted no later than 4pm on Saturday 16 March for print, cyber and media entries, and no later than 4pm on Sunday 17 March for film entries. The winners will be announced in April.
