Trained in fashion and textiles at the University of the Arts, London College of Fashion, Claire Gaudion worked in the fashion industry in London for several years before cutting lose and designing her own collections. She has just launched a new collection of digitally printed 100% silk scarves and eco notebooks.
All of her work centres around her home island of Guernsey. Inspired by the colours and forms of the sea, the granite rocks and beaches, the wild flower headlands and the ever-changing skies, Claire tries to capture these images and ‘moments’ and recreate them in geometric patterns. Five Guernsey locations are featured in this new digital print collection: Albecq, Oyster Point, Vazon, Rocquaine and Rousse. Much of Claire’s design development work is done through experimenting with weaving on a hand loom, working with colour and weave structures, playing with subtle variations in colour and layers of design and these are then re-worked digitally.
Claire has been selected to exhibit at Spotted, Top Drawer London in January 2013, and has a growing number of stockists in the UK, including M.A.D.E. Cirencester, Fisherton Mill, Salisbury and CultureLabel.com. To find out more visit www.clairegaudion.co.uk.
