About

My name is Katy Cowan. I'm a creative living in Manchester, UK (also often found lurking around London) and Creative Boom is my blog devoted to creative freelancers, startups, artists, graduates and agencies throughout the UK and beyond. Part of The Guardian Culture Professionals Network, Creative Boom was started in 2009 out of a passion to champion creativity and effectively help cause a creative industry boom. Today, my blog reaches over two million people each and every month.

Through Creative Boom, I mainly focus on art, design and visual communication. I source and share inspiring work by creatives, not just from here in the UK but across the globe. I provide my own tips to help others. I blog about the creative industries and what's going on. I interview creatives from all walks of life to share their own inspirations. I review things. I go along to events. I talk about what's coming up. I do everything I can to share what's ultimately wonderful about our thriving UK creative industries.

It's a blog that I'm extremely passionate about, which has taken me on many exciting adventures all around the globe (New York, Sydney, Melbourne... next stop Tokyo!). And as Creative Boom approaches its fourth anniversary, I'm proud to say that I've had the support and love from names as big as the BBC, The Guardian, Adobe, Vimeo, Creative England, Arts Council, even the UK Government!

When I'm not championing art, design and creativity, I run my own marketing firm called Boomerang - helping brands to make the most of the web. Creative Boom is my little side project and hobby, as I love writing about creativity and supporting other people. If you'd like to be featured, please carefully read my FAQs or read this helpful How to get featured on Creative Boom article. Thanks for visiting my blog.
